Coronavirus: 76,168 total cases, 3,189 deaths reported in Ohio

The Ohio Department of Health is reporting 76,168 total cases of coronavirus and 3,189 deaths attributed to the virus in the state.

There were 1,236 cases reported in the last 24 hours and 15 deaths reported.

During the pandemic, the state has reported 70,755 confirmed cases and 2,916 confirmed deaths.

Hospitalizations increased by 55 and ICU admissions by 29, for a total of 9,610 and 2,344 respectively.

Gov. Mike DeWine said a public health order requiring a face mask may include a lot more counties this week during an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday, according to the Associate Press.

As of Friday evening, 19 counties were under the order, including Montgomery and Butler counties.

Starting today, nursing homes in Ohio can resume outdoor visitations as long as the facility is in compliance with testing standards and all safety standards are being met.

Nursing homes should also screen all visitors and keep a visitor log according to guidelines released by the Ohio Department of Health.

Visitations were suspended months ago after multiple coronavirus outbreaks were reported at congregate care facilities across the state.

Though visitations are able to resume, some facilities are deciding against visits and others are waiting for the Ohio National Guard to test all the facility’s staff so that the nursing home can reopen.

Public Health - Dayton and Montgomery County is finishing a three-day series of free coronavirus pop-up testing sites today at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. Testing is being done in conjunction with the Ohio National Guard and is available until 4 p.m. today.

Last week, testing was available in Huber Heights and Trotwood.
